Ezra Levant receives the Sappho Prize 2014

The Conservative Canadian journalist, commentator and owner of Rebel Media received the Free Press Associations’ Sappho Prize in 2014 for his courageous and principled defense of freedom of expression. In 2006, he was the first to publish the Muhammad drawings, which resulted in the Canadian authorities calling him before the country's human rights commission, since an Imam had complained that the drawings were blasphemous. Ezra Levant insisted on video recording the initial hearing, which subsequently went viral, exhibiting Canada's and the West's unwillingness to protect freedom of expression.
